When a Catholic dislikes the Pope
When a Catholic dislikes the Pope,
-
he will disagree with what the Pope says.
-
Then he will disagree with whatever the Pope did
-
Then he will see the Pope is bad, or even evil.
-
Then he will read papal documents by assuming that the Pope is infiltrating something evil within it
-
Since Catholics believe in Papal Infallibility, hence he will think that, as long as the Pope doesn’t speak ex cathedra, then this evil pope is always wrong
However, because Catholics believe what the Lord said, “And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it.”, to reconcile to this belief, the only conclusion he gets is that the current pope is not a valid pope. Then, everything makes sense. Even if the pope speaks ex cathedra, it can be wrong as well, since he is not a valid pope. And whoever supports this pope is spiritually blind.
When we feel that we dislike the Pope, we should recite Our Father wholeheartedly. When we say “Thy will be done”, it is God’s will to be done, not our own will. “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.” (Rom 13:1).
When we say “Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us”, we should forgive our brothers and sisters from our heart. If the pope sins against us, we should forgive him. “If any one says, ‘I love God,’ and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.” (1 John 4:20) And the Lord says, “Love your enemies”.
When we say “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil”, we need to beware of the evil one. “Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking some one to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)
Let’s pray for the Pope and the unity of the Church.
