Marriage in God
As a Catholic and as a married man, through the spiritual growth, I gradually understand why the Church has a very strong and strict teaching about marriage.
292. Christian marriage, as a reflection of the union between Christ and his Church, is fully realized in the union between a man and a woman who give themselves to each other in a free, faithful and exclusive love, who belong to each other until death and are open to the transmission of life, and are consecrated by the sacrament, which grants them the grace to become a domestic church and a leaven of new life for society (Francis, Amoris Laetitia, 19 March 2016).
Marriage is a union between man and woman, and it is a “covenant” with full consent among two persons. This is just like the covenant between God and human. So that both are self giving to each other, and live faithfully.
If someone believes in God yet approves divorce, this is denying the faithfulness of God.
If someone believes in God yet approves adultery, this is unfaithful to God.
If someone believes in God yet approves fornication, this is also unfaithful to God, because there is no “covenant”.
If someone believes in God yet approves masturbation, this is self-worshiping.
If someone believes in God yet approves same-sex marriage, this is unnatural.
If someone believes in God yet approves pornography, this is idolatry, because this is worshiping imagery beings.
Why is it pornography a serious sin, which induces mortal sin? Because pornography changes the mind of the person PERMANENTLY (because you watch it, then it becomes part of your memory forever). And this leads to unsatisfied desire which you cannot seek within the marriage.
Married life is not easy. It is a self-giving life, sacrifice like Christ who dies on the cross, to sanctify the Church, to make her holy.
